Calcium Oxide is a white to gray-white, odourless powder reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide. It is insoluble in ethanol, methanol and alcohols. It is soluble in acids, glycerol and sugar solution.

Applications:
Calcium Oxide is used in the manufacturing of bleaching powder. In the process of water demineralization.
As a waste water neutralization and in acidic effluents neutralization.
It is used to regenerate sodium hydroxide from sodium carbonate in chemical recovery of kraft pulp industries. It is used in the manufacture light weight block.
In flue gas desulphurization, stabilization of hazardous waste, drying of mud or sludge, dehairing of hides in tanneries.
It is used in metallurgical industries, petroleum refining industries, paint industries, etc.
