Applications:
Sodium hydroxide is used in many scenarios where it is desirable to increase thealalinityof a mixture, or to neutralize acids.
In food industries for washing or chemical peeling of fruits and vegetables, chocolate and cocoa processing, caramel colouring production, soft drink processing, etc.
It is used in some cement mix plasticizers. This helps homogenise cement mixes, preventing segregation of sands and cement, decreases the amount of water required in a mixture and increases workability of the cement product.
Digestion of wood and bagasse for manufacture of pulp and paper.
Digestion of wood for manufacture of viscose staple fibre, viscose filament yarn and rayon tyre cord.
