Applications:
Dimethyl sulphide is widely used as a food and flavouring agent.
It is used as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
It is used as a gas odorant, catalyst impregnator and sulfiding agent.
It is alkylated to produce trimethylsulfonium halides.
