Applications:
As a solvent in process involving gums, resins, cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose coatings and vinyl films
. Use in the manufacture of plastics, textiles, in the production of paraffin wax, varnishes, paint remover and as a cleaning agent.
It dissolves polystyrene and many other plastics, so used as a model cement for use in connecting parts of scale model kits.
