Applications:
In the production of lube oil additives. Used in the pharmaceutical applications, for the extraction of vitamins and minerals, as wetting agents in lithographic printing and as chemical intermediates.
As a frother in the flotation process in the mining of ores, such as copper and molybdenum sulphide, as well as coal.
In the production of anti-wear and corrosion inhibitors – such as in the manufacture of brake fluid – and as a precursor to some plasticizers. Process solvent for soaps. Chemical intermediate for higher alcohols, surfactants.
Solvent for nitrocellulose and ethylcellulose lacquers. Extraction solvent for essential oils for flavours/fragrances.
