Applications:
Phosphorus tribromide is mainly used as a brominating agent in organic chemistry.
It is used for the conversion of primary or secondary alcohols to alkyl bromides. As a catalyst for the α- bromination of carboxylic acids.
Used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals like alprazolam, methohexital and fenoprofen.
