Applications:
Used as a solvent for flavours, extracts, drug and food anti-oxidants, a heat transfer medium, an emollient and humectants and plasticizers for tobacco products, baked foods, coconut, adhesives and paper products.
Used in chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries as an antifreeze when leakage might lead to contact with food.
Propylene glycol is also used in various edible items such as coffee-based drinks, liquid sweeteners, ice cream, soda, etc.
