The major use of Sodium Bicarbonate is in foods as a baking soda. It is used in effervescent salts and is sometimes used medically to correct excess stomach acidity.

It is used in fire extinguisher. It is used in BC dry chemical fire extinguishers as an alternative to more corrosive diammonium phosphate in ABC extinguishers.
